Huntsville Ice Complex announces 25th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser

Huntsville, AL, February 16, 2017–The Benton H. Wilcoxon Municipal Ice Complex is teaming up with the Huntsville Havoc for a weekend-long celebration recognizing the 25th anniversary of Huntsville’s only year-round ice skating facility.

The Benton H. Wilcoxon Municipal Ice Complex (Huntsville Ice Complex) has been in its current location on Leeman Ferry Road for 25 years and is recognizing the anniversary by offering several family friendly events the first weekend in April.

The Ice Complex will offer free public skating sessions from 1:00-4:00pm on Saturday April 1st and will have inflatables, food trucks, and more on site to make sure this events offers something for everyone. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about figure skating and hockey for the first time. During the skating sessions figure skaters from the Huntsville Skating School and Training Academy will also be performing demonstrations and learn to skate sessions will be ongoing throughout the afternoon. As part of the 25th anniversary celebration for the Huntsville Ice Complex the Huntsville Hockey Office and TPH will be hosting the TPH Top 40 Program. This program will consist of the top 06-09 birth-year players from within SAHA and outlying areas. The program will be going on throughout the weekend and there will be 160 youth hockey players participating in the event. This will be a part of a great weekend celebrating 25 years of the Huntsville Ice Complex.

Later in the day the Ice Complex will team up with the Huntsville Havoc to host a hockey game featuring hockey greats of years past entitled The Chaos Classic sponsored by Trane at 5:00pm. There will be a fun Chuck a Puck competition during intermission with participants competing for a gift card and gift basket from Whole Foods. Chaos Classic ticket holders will receive free entry to The Huntsville Havoc game immediately following the event. The Huntsville Skating School and Training Academy will also be performing during the first intermission of the Huntsville Havoc game, which is their last regular season home game of the regular season.
The following day, April 2nd, the Ice Complex and the Huntsville Havoc Booster Club will be hosting the 25th Anniversary Casino Night and Silent Auction at the VBC Propst Arena at 5:00pm. This fun-filled night of gaming is open to the entire community and will feature raffle items donated by local businesses such as The Pants Store, Elitaire Boutique, Requip’d, and more. Tickets are $50 and will come with $1,000 in playing money. Ticket s can be purchased at the Huntsville Ice Complex or by calling 256-883-3773 ext. 207.
