Senator Arthur Orr supports Fundraising efforts at Ice Complex

The Benton H. Wilcoxon Municipal Ice Complex and the 501 (c)(3) organization Friends of Recreational Ice Activities would like to thank Senator Arthur Orr, (R- Madison, Morgan, and Limestone Counties) for his generous donation of $500.00.

This donation will have a tremendous impact on FRIA’s continued efforts to raise $400,000.00 for the upcoming expansion of the Benton H. Wilcoxon Municipal Ice Complex. The Ice Complex hopes to break ground on the expansion in 2017 and continued successful fundraising will make this possible. The expansion will include new locker rooms, restrooms, and multi-purpose rooms on the east side of the facility. When the expansion is completed the facility will be able to support larger tournaments and events, bringing more exposure to our athletes and increasing the economic impact on the City of Huntsville.

The Ice Complex currently supports the North Alabama Hockey Associations youth and adult hockey leagues, Total Package Hockey, and the Huntsville Skating School and Training Academy. The Ice Complex has been serving the community since 1991 and is open daily for public skate, birthday parties, corporate events, and more. The Ice Complex also hosts the regional Special Olympics competition every year and actively works to ensure everyone in the community can stop by and enjoy a few hours of fun on the ice.

Orr was first elected to the Alabama Senate in 2006. He is currently the Chairman of the Joint Fiscal Committee, Joint Legislative Water Resources Committee, Select Commission on High School Dropouts and Alabama Bicentennial Commission, on the boards of the Children’s Trust Fund, Southern Growth Policies Board, serves on the State Water Commission and more.
